Amanda To the Rescue

Monday May 26th.  Albert and Lady packed and ready...
Only 14 kms to Gambo, so I expected to arrive by midday...

But unfortunately things seldom go according to plan, and after only a few kms we met with this fearsome unplanked bridge....

Dare I tackle it?  Some of the gaps were wide enough to take a horse hoof, and I decided not to chance it, very wisely as it turned out.  The only alternative was to brave the narrow hard shoulder of the Highway, not really an option with two horses.  But I had just been given a local contact - and that is where the wonderful Amanda Parsons-Keats came to the rescue!   She managed to borrow an old trailer and turned up to ferry Albert and Lady to Gambo.  After I had ridden back up the trail to complete the section, she trailered the horses to her home in nearby Dover for an overnight stay.  Her horses Marco and Cheyenne were shut in the barn overnight while Albert and Lady had a manger full of hay in the corral.
Amanda and family at home ......
